A day that ushers in young champions.
The racecourse plays host to two unmissable events in the racing calendar: the Emirates Poule d’Essai des Poulains and the Emirates Poule d’Essai des Pouliches.
Both of these races have Group 1 status, the highest category of horse race, and crown the best colt and filly from the new generation of 3-year-olds over the sprint distance of a mile. The young racehorses need to pull out all the stops to demonstrate their speed and talent over this shorter distance.
In the racecourse grounds, spectators have the opportunity to make the most of the free entertainment on offer, with plenty to keep our younger visitors amused: pony rides, merry-go-round, bouncy castle, etc.
We’ll see you on Sunday 15th May 2022 from 12 noon at ParisLongchamp!

EMIRATES POULE D'ESSAI DES POULAINS
THE FIRST CHAPTER
The Emirates Poule d’Essai des Poulains is the first Group 1 outing of the year for 3 year-old colts over a mile.
Just like the 2,000 Guineas Stakes across the channel, it pits the very best of the next generation against one another!
This landmark test at the outset of the season determines whether a colt will kick on to 10 ½ furlongs in the Qatar Prix du Jockey Club at the beginning of June or remain a miler.
It is the first major outing in a season which runs till October…
ENGLISH RAIDER MODERN GAMES DENIES OUTSIDER TEXAS
The English-trained colt Modern Games landed the 2022 Emirates Poule d’Essai des Poulains, the crown jewels for 3yo milers.

Modern Games proved tenacious in victory and resisted a remarkable attack from the outsider Texas, despite his unfavourable draw in stall 15. The race was a triumph for the famous blue silks of Godolphin (Sheikh Mohammed Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of Dubaï) who, not only owned the winner Modern Games, but also the third-placed Tribalist, who is trained in France by André Fabre. Trained in Newmarket by Charlie Appleby, Modern Games provided his trainer with a first success in the Group 1 contest. The colt was making his seasonal return and hadn’t been seen since his success in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf at Del Mar (United States) last November.
Texas provided Chantilly (Oise) based trainer Henri-François Devin, jockey Clément Lecoeuvre and his owners Ecurie Jeffroy, with their first runner in the Emirates Poule d’Essai des Poulains and the colts surprise second place finish will have been almost as good as a victory for his sporting connections. Deauville trainer Jean-Claude Rouget’s two representatives, Welwal and Lassaut, finished in fifth and six places respectively.

EMIRATES POULE D'ESSAI DES POULICHES
THE FIRST BIG OUTING OF THE SEASON
A landmark test on the road to the Prix de Diane Longines, the Emirates Poule d’Essai des Pouliches is reserved for 3 year-old fillies over a mile.
The first big outing for fillies which paves the way forward !
Only 25 Emirates Poule d’Essai des Pouliches winners have gone on to double glory by winning the Prix de Diane Longines.
THE TONY PARKER COLOURS REACH THE TOP!
Mangoustine, one of two Tony Parker runners in the 2022 Emirates Poule d'Essai des Pouliches, gave her all to score a head win over Cachet.

The latter is one Britain’s best 3-y-old fillies. Mangoustine did not, however, get the best of runs, after having a wide trip in the hands of Gérald Mossé, the most experienced French jockey, and she finally got the better of Cachet who, just as she had done in the 1,000 Guineas - the English equivalent of the Emirates Poule d'Essai des Pouliches on May 1 - tried to make every post a winning one. Mangoustine is owned by a partnership consisting of Infinity Nine Horses - Tony Parker's racing division – the Écurie des Monceaux, Qatar Racing Ltd and Alexandre Giannotti, and is trained at Chantilly by Mikel Delzangles.
Times Square, trained by Christophe Ferland, was an excellent third, a short head behind Cachet. Rosacea, one of the two Stéphane Wattel runners, who trains at Deauville, finished fourth, having had to contend with the one draw, a tricky proposition, and without having had the happiest of times at the business end. She finished a short head in front Daisy Maisy, also trained at Deauville but by Yann Barberot. Zelda, Tony Parker's other representative, ridden by the female jockey Coralie Pacaut, finished strongly into sixth.
